HEALTH
CARE POLICY
Parents
are asked to be considerate of their own child's health and also the other children
and staff in the Center. If your child is not feeling well in the morning do
not send him/her to school. Facilities for caring for sick children are not
available. A
child, who arrives at the Center noticeably ill, with a nonspecific rash or other
symptoms of illness, cannot be admitted that day. If a child becomes ill during
the day you will be contacted to pick up your child as soon as possible. Cherubs
considers a fever to be 101 degrees or higher. If a child is sent home from school
sick, he/she must be fever free, without medication (ex Tylenol, Motrin
etc.) for at least 24 hours before returning. If
a teacher feels your child is having a difficult day (which may indicate the start
of an illness) you may receive a phone call to let you know. This would allow
families to make a late afternoon or evening doctor's appointment if necessary.
Any
mildly ill child is separated from the other children while waiting for the parent
to come to the Center. The Child may be (1) alone in a "quiet" area,
always in full view of adult(s) in classroom or (2) with Director/Teacher qualified
staff outside of the classroom. Contagious
diseases must be reported to the Director. She, in turn, will notify other
parents. If your child has a contagious disease and is absent from school, please
provide us with a doctor's note upon the child's return stating his/her present
state of health. Should
a child have an emergency at school the parent will be informed immediately.
If a parent cannot be reached, the next step will be determined according to the
severity of the situation. Your authorization form detailing your wishes for emergency
medical services will be kept on file at the Center. First-Aid
Kits are at the Center to care for minor cuts, scrapes, and abrasions. An
accident report will be completed and a copy will be given to the parent within
24 hours. The
Center works closely with the Department of Early Education and Care, a Pediatric
Health Care Consultant and the Marshfield Health Department. See the attached
guidelines as outlined by the Department of Public Health. |
